A French photographer was wounded during fighting in Liberia's capital on Saturday and is in a serious condition, foreign diplomats and government forces said. Army chief of staff General Benjamin Yeaten told Reuters the photographer had been hit by fire from rebels, who struck inside Monrovia and battled to a bridge leading to the heart of the city. Diplomats said the photographer was receiving emergency treatment at the United States embassy in the city and would eventually be evacuated overseas.
